no. here's why: the new formula is a liquid-gel hybrid that dries down to a velvet-soft matte, not a flat or powdery one. it stays flexible on the lid rather than cracking or settling into fine lines. it is long-wearing with no primer needed for most skin types.

how is the matte different from the lustrous?

the lustrous shades are multi-dimensional shimmers — iridescent, duochrome, metallic. the matte shades dry down to a soft, blurred, no-shine finish. they're designed to work as a pair: matte as your base, lustrous pressed on top for a customized glow level. but each one also delivers a full, complete look on its own.

do I need to blend fast? I'm nervous about it drying too quickly.

you have a comfortable blending window before it starts to set. the easiest method: swipe on with the applicator, then immediately press and diffuse with your fingertip. if you make a mistake, just tap more product on top and blend again while it's still slightly tacky. go slowly on your first try, then you'll find it becomes second nature.

what shade of starlet matte is right for me?

brb and nvm work on virtually every skin tone — they're your everyday, clean-lid shades. ty is a deep warm brown that's incredible as a liner shade using the tapered tip. ily is a cool chocolate for maximum depth, best on medium to deep skin tones. for a full look, start with nvm all over the lid and layer your favorite lustrous shade on top.

can I use this as an eyeliner?
